With the seasonal fashion weeks wrapping up, I present you three of my favorite shows that stood out among the many.
This show was featured at New York Fashion Week as so were the other designers I will be talking about; however, this one is the most “New York” to me. It is perfectly edgy- with the leather, the bold fonts, furs, risqué fabrics. This collection just screams badass, as the collection embodies a strong woman making a statement and showing she can do what she wants. The collection has such an attitude, and personally I believe this was one of his strongest shows/collections yet, showing off Alex Wang’s grunge aesthetic in capacity.
I have never seen this designer house prior to this year’s fashion weeks; however, this show is probably hands down my favorite show ever. This show is so dreamy- just look at the dewy effect, diamonds, and open silhouettes. I absolutely love the fur details, black being the main color, and especially the sparkle. The whole show was executed perfectly and definitely enhanced the collection itself. This collection blows me away as its everything I want to be- so classy, free, yet boss. It gives me a sort of 20s vibe- Great Gastby-esq, but with a less feminine feel.
Brother Vellies was another creatively and artistically presented show. Brother Vellies is a sustainable footwear brand and each shoe is made in South Africa, Kenya, and Morocco. The intertwining branches adorned with red, orange, yellow colored flowers as the backdrop of the show truly matched the earthy aesthetic of the brand. The clothes and accessories all paired well with the shoes to create a wild, bohemian feel.
